Police errors may have let abusers of up to 52 children escape justice

Report ordered by Manchester mayor Andy Burnham has found failings in the local force Up to 52 children may have been victims of a sex abuse scandal in Greater Manchester, with most offenders getting away with their crimes because of errors by police and children’s services, the Guardian has learned. Some of the police officers involved in the 2004 case are still serving and the police watchdog has been called in to re-examine if there was any wrongdoing.
