Former Interpol chief Meng Hongwei put on trial for bribery in China

Meng vanished in September during a visit to China from his home in Lyon Former Interpol chief Meng Hongwei has been put on trial for bribery, according to Chinese state media. Official government mouthpiece the People’s Daily claimed Meng had admitted his guilt during a court hearing on Thursday after prosecutors accused him of taking 14.5 million yuan ($2.11m) in bribes.
